Meet Our Staff

Cheri Durst is a West Michigan native whose diverse career journey eventually led her to the Chattanooga area in 2009, accompanied by her husband, Doug. She is a proud graduate of Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, where she earned an Associate in Applied Science in Respiratory Therapy, a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration, and a Master of Science in Career and Technical Education.
Her connection to Southern Adventist University was strengthened by her daughters, Heather and Brooke, both alumni who had enriching experiences during their time there. Inspired by their journey and drawn to the mission of the institution, Cheri became the first to serve as Student Success and Retention Coordinator at Southern—a role she has embraced since 2013. Her passion lies in supporting students as they navigate both the beginning and end of their academic journeys with confidence and care.
Outside of her professional life, Cheri enjoys cooking, reading, and traveling. Most of all, she treasures time spent with her family and lives in joyful anticipation of Jesus’ return.

Regina Bailey is the Office Manager for Student Success & Retention Services at Southern Adventist University, where she has faithfully served for over 22 years. A former Psychology student at Southern Missionary College (now Southern Adventist University), Regina began her career as a Production Supervisor at McKee Foods Corp before returning to Southern in a role that perfectly blends her administrative strengths with her passion for helping students thrive.
Originally born in Takoma Park, Maryland, Regina grew up in Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida before moving to the Chattanooga area in 1981 to attend college—and she’s been part of the community ever since. She finds great fulfillment in watching students grow academically and personally, always ready with a listening ear and a heart to serve.
Outside of work, Regina enjoys scrapbooking, making cards, gardening, and working on DIY home projects. She is a proud mother of two daughters and a doting grandmother to four grandchildren—three girls and one boy—who bring endless joy to her life.
A collector of meaningful quotes, two of her favorites are Marianne Williamson’s “Our Deepest Fear” and the reminder that “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” Above all, Regina is guided by her faith, striving to honor her Lord and Savior in everything she does—with joy, integrity, and love.
