Alumni and faculty from Southern Adventist University gathered in New York City’s Steinway Hall to perform a concert of piano and chamber music on March 15.

Planned by the university’s Alumni Relations team, the performance brought together several dozen graduates and current professors, offering a chance to reconnect in the famous 74-seat recital hall, known for its superb acoustics supporting both live music and recording.

In addition to the concert, attendees were invited to a Steinway factory tour and a special dinner. Events like this strengthen alumni connections while highlighting Southern’s investment in quality music education.

In 2009, Southern became the 100th All-Steinway School in the country, demonstrating its commitment to excellence in music. All pianos in the School of Music are designed and made by Steinway & Sons, ensuring that students, faculty, and guests have access to high-quality instruments for practice, teaching, and performance.

“Being an All-Steinway School makes a statement to parents and the community that our program provides an excellent environment for our students to study and to grow,” says Peter Cooper, DMA, dean of the School of Music. “Performing in Steinway Hall is another way to reinforce the importance of music in academics and in everyday life.”
